Since childhood, Geetha Madhuri Itty’s most treasured summer
activity has been fly fishing. Ever since first accompanying her grandfather to
local streams and creeks as a child, Geetha Madhuri Itty developed a fondness
for fly-fishing. Now an avid female angler, Geetha Madhuri Itty waits half the
year for the snow to melt enough to grab her tackle box. Although her goal is
ultimately an impressive daily catch, Geetha Madhuri Itty appreciates the
calming effect that fly fishing seems to have on her. Geetha Madhuri Itty will
even arrange for hired help to take over the day’s tasks to ensure that she can
enjoy her summer fishing trips.
Although Iowa is not well-known for fishing, Geetha Madhuri
Itty knows that the state’s trout are some of the best she’s ever tasted.
Geetha Madhuri Itty recalls going on many trips during the summer to local
creeks and streams with her grandfather. It was her grandfather who reinforced
Geetha Madhuri Itty’s passion for fly fishing as an adult. Geetha Madhuri Itty’s
relationship with her grandfather was unique. After her grandfather died, over
20 years ago, Geetha Madhuri Itty has made at least one trip per year to their
favorite stream.
Despite always hoping for a decent catch, Geetha Madhuri Itty
is content to spend hours fly-fishing even if the fish are not biting. Because
of the added perk of usually being able to feed her family with the day’s
catch, Geetha Madhuri Itty views fly fishing as a peaceful but productive way
to spend one’s day. Geetha Madhuri Itty’s fishing skills have improved over the
years. After over 30 years of fly fishing, Geetha Madhuri Itty has developed
refined tastes in fishing locations, types of lure, and times of day. As her
grandfather would say, Geetha Madhuri Itty has found her “fishing style.”
